Framed in a gunmetal grey frame and in very good condition with minor marks to the upper left.
Takashi Murakami has created a universe of characters characterized by strong connotations of the manga and anime aesthetics. , name that comes from the abbreviation of the Japanese term "debojite", "why?" . Created in 1993, Mr.DOB, as well as Murakami alterego, is also known as "the Japanese Mickey Mouse": the artist has deliberately designed it with the features of the famous American Mickey Mouse, because he wanted to remind the Japanese people that the Japanese culture it does not need Western influences to spread.

Bio
Born in Tokyo, Takashi Murakami has always been passionate about Manga, so much that he wanted to become a designer. He studied Japanese traditional painting at the University of Art in Tokyo. Takashi Murakami makes his debut in the art world with his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 1989. He then moved to New York, bringing there his Superflat style, which became a real movement of Japanese art. Murakami has often been described as a pop artist and compared to Andy Warhol for being openly inspired by mass culture. In his works, in fact, references to the iconography of anime and manga are evident. The art of Murakami criticises modern consumerist society and raises awareness of the media's manipulation of society.
