Must see to be believed! A truly stunning piece of original art by renowned artist Joseph Frost (b.1953). This impressive and expansive original oil painting on canvas is titled verso 'Fire Haze, Picton NSW' and signed lower right. Like so many of Frost's' artworks, the detail and classic realism is a common trait in all his work. Frost captures the suns' haze bathed in the golden and mauve light of sunset. Beautifully framed in an ornate copper tone frame with minor wear. The artwork is in excellent condition. A wonderful piece to add to your collection. Rare to find such a piece on the market.

Bio
Principally a maritime artist, Frost is famous for his detailed paintings of Sydney Harbour, Country scenes and boats. Joseph Ambrose Mraz (born Czechoslovakia 1953), he anglicized his name to Frost after his arrival in Australia in 1974, he was initially based in Sydney, working in a North Sydney gallery where he learnt framing and restoration and spent his spare time painting.
Frost has also painted under his pseudonym name Julian Morgan. Frost is recognised for his meticulous brushwork and extreme detail applied to depict atmospheric morning or afternoon light. Describing himself as a “romantic realist”, Joseph has developed a unique style using the “contre-jour” (against the light) technique, combined with meticulous brushwork and attention to subtle shades of colour. Mainly self-taught; some time at W.A.S., Willoughby studying printmaking and exhibiting member of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales.

Solo shows at the Prouds Gallery in Sydney in 1978 and 1979; Barry Stern Gallery in 1980, 1981 and 1983; Elder Fine Art Gallery in Adelaide in 1982; Gould Gallery, Melbourne in 1983 and 1985; Noelda Arnold Galleries in Perth in 1986; Boronia Gallery in Sydney in 1988 and 1989; Seascape Gallery in Sydney. Each year, Joseph spends some months painting overseas.
