Ellis Rowan (1848-1922). This is an original watercolour painting on paper by one of Australia's most respected botanical illustrators. The piece is untitled but regarded as 'Sunset Brook'. The artwork is signed lower right. The condition is excellent with a beautiful frame and non-reflective glass. Ellis Rowan is regarded in the art community as a prized collectible.

Bio
Marian Ellis Rowan (30 July 1848 – 4 October 1922) was born in the Port Philip District (now Victoria) on 30 July 1848. She was the eldest child of Charles and Marian Ryan, and was always known by her middle name 'Ellis Rowan'. She was a well-known Australian artist and naturalist illustrator. She also did a series of illustrations on birds, butterflies and insects.
