There are few Australian artists more loved from the 20th Century than D'Arcy Doyle and this piece speaks volumes to his quality and style. An expansive original oil painting on canvas on board by renowned Australian artist D'Arcy Doyle (1932-2001). This large investment artwork is titled 'Umpires Decision' (Circa 1970) and last sold in 2006 for $10,800 (Lawsons July 31, Lot 71). It's a truly magnificent piece signed 'd'Arcy W. Doyle' lower right. The artwork is in excellent condition and beautifully framed in bright gold with internal white inlay and gold trim. There is some minor wear to the frame but nothing significant. Provenance: Private collector Bowral, NSW. It rare to find a piece from the cricketing series of this magnitude by d'Arcy Doyle. Be quick this is an absolute cracker of an artwork.

Bio
D'Arcy Doyle was an Australian Postwar & Contemporary painter who was born in 1932. He created many wistful images of his homeland Australia, and, in particular, scenes depicting the Australian outback. D'Arcy W. Doyle's artwork was painted in a realist style, and often contained scenes of children playing outside and rural images of people working the land. He started out creating murals and signs, yet artist D'Arcy W. Doyle had no formal training before embarking on a successful career as full-time artist.
