When our journey started in buying and selling art, it was a huge learning curve. We found that there were so many auction houses in Australia. Not only that, but they get different results for similar art. Others do well in Photographic art, others in Chinese art, others in art by Pro Hart. It became clear after watching hundreds and hundreds of auctions around Australia (and around the world), that different auctions houses seem to do better in certain areas of art.
We also learnt that different auction houses have different fee structures. Some charge for photography, some don't. Some charge for insurance, some don't. Some operate one auction a month, whilst others specialise in Australian and International art one month and decorative art the next. Some let you set the reserve, some don't. Some charge you an artist royalty, others charge the buyer. You get the idea. Every auction house is different on so many levels. Even the quality of their marketing and database of clients differ.
Now imagine if you could leave those details up to ArtMarkets. You simply send your art details to ArtMarkets and we obtain the valuations from the Auctions houses that we think will get the best result for you. We charge 12% of the sales fee, so its in ours (and yours) best interest to get you the highest price. Think of it as 'Finder' for the art market. For more information on the process click here.
Once we find a suitable auction house, we will place the art, provide you with the links of your art when and where it goes to auction and inform you of the result. Auction houses also differ in when they pay. Some pay within ten days, others 35 days! Its annoying, but it's out of our control. Regardless, you get your art sold for the best possible price and you get paid as fast as we do.
In addition to the 12% fee we charge, the auction houses vary in their fees. They charge a commission for selling your art (Ranging from 11%-16.5%), some charge photography fees ($3.30 to $33), some charge insurance of 1.5%. The beauty is that ArtMarkets get to negotiate the lowest possible fee we can get for you. We genuinely want to get you the best possible price.
That's it in a nutshell. A better, easier way to sell your art. Call us on 0412 968 145 or visit our contact page. Happy to answer your questions Gratis.

Hi, I have an Arthur Boyd print, “The Hunter”, signed and numbered 16/25. Excellent condition, great colours. It’s in a gold painted frame size 1200×980mm. What could it be worth please?
